Dear Colleagues,
Join us (online) for the 3rd Workshop on the Creation, Curation, Critique and Conditioning of Principles and Guidelines in Visualization on Sunday (Oct 25), 8am-11:30 Mountain time (https://nms.kcl.ac.uk/c4pgv).
Attendance is open to everyone (academic or not) and free, please register for free to the IEEE VIS conference (http://ieeevis.org) to obtain access.
This year we’re focusing on two timely topics—education and public health—related to guidelines and visualization knowledge and we want to discuss how visualization knowledge is used, translated, and applied in these domains. With the increasing awareness of visualization (publicly) and the increasing amount of research in visualization, we need to (re?)think about how we present and communicate all this knowledge outside the community and how we can act as a community with core research contributions. Each of our topics this year is representing one such field at the frontier of knowledge communication and application.
Each topic is informed by a keynote and followed by a panel with open discussion.
Session 1: Teaching Visualization Guidelines
Keynote: Silvia Miksch (Vienna University of Technology) - Guidelines meet Guidance: Challenges and Opportunities
Panelists: Sheelagh Carpendale | Arzu Coltekin | Robert S. Laramee | Lace Padilla | Jonathan Roberts

Session 2: Visualization Response in a Time of Pandemic
Keynote: Eser Kandogan (Megagon Lab) - Towards Operationalizing the Language of Data Visualization Guidelines
Panelists: Sara Irina Fabrikant | Alexander Lex | Amanda Makulec | Cagatay Turkay | Tatiana von Landesberger.

Help us spread the word and share this invitation widely. See you on Sunday!
