[Infovis] Two PhD studentships in Information Visualisation at Newcastle University, UK (please, note application deadlines)

We are offering two fully funded PhD studentships (covering tuition fees
and a stipend of £14,553 per year) in Data Visualization, at Newcastle
University, UK. The studentships are suitable for candidates with a degree
in Computer Science or a similar area, with an interest in data/information
visualization.



*Interactive Visualization of Complex Data*

This is an open project focusing on some of the main challenges in data
visualization, guided by the interests of the candidate. Further details

*Mining the biological data deluge: highly interactive exploration of
‘omics type data through novel visualisation methods*

This project is funded by Unilever R&D and BBSRC (as part of the National
Productivity Investment Funding), and will through placements provide a
unique opportunity to carry out visualization research in collaboration
with scientists at one of the world’s largest consumer product companies.
The main focus of the project lies on developing visualization for
exploration of extremely high-dimensional biological data. Further details

The projects will be carried out at the School of Computing Science at
Newcastle University (rated no 1 in research impact in the UK in REF 2014)
and will be part of the research in the Scalable Computing group, which
also hosts the EPSRC Doctoral Training Centre in Cloud Computing for Big
Data.
