The Department of Computer Graphics Technology at Purdue University invites applications for one tenure-track faculty position at the assistant or associate level in the area of human-centered design. The faculty member will support the new undergraduate major in human-centered design and development (HCDD) and related programs.
Qualifications: Doctorate in a field related to human-computer interaction with a focus in user-centered design, user experience design, information design, visual communication, data visualization, bioinformatics, social computing or Web development. Strong commitment to project-based and active learning pedagogies is required. Applicants must be committed to diversity in learning, discovery and engagement.
Job Responsibilities: Job responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, mentoring graduate students, developing an active research program and seeking research funding. The ability to pursue interdisciplinary funded projects is expected.
Department of Computer Graphics Technology (CGT) Purdue University: CGT is one of six units in the College of Technology. It offers the BS and MS in Computer Graphics Technology and participates in the College of Technology PhD program. CGT strives to balance undergraduate and graduate education with a strong research and engagement agenda. For additional information please see: http://www.tech.purdue.edu/cg/. HCDD is a new undergraduate major that aims to provide interdisciplinary, project-based education in the area of user-centered design. Graduates of HCDD will master the user-centered design process, have good programming and visual design skills, demonstrated ability to work in teams, and excellent oral and written communication skills.
Rank and Salary are commensurate with experience for a tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor with a 9 month appointment.
