Dear VR Colleagues -

There are several opportunities to serve the VR community by standing for
an *appointed position on the VGTC Executive Committee*:

<https://gcc02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Furldefense.com%2Fv3%2F__https%3A%2Ftc.computer.org%2Fvgtc%2Fabout-us%2Fexecutive-committee%2F__%3B!!KGKeukY!xCf9oZfbi6RsCFE3m5BmiVZ1FeQaL3_HKeGwiLA6-f3sudVxJBc_GdXyeEWr1juMcvOi4CteGZUyl5WGjEByPg%24&data=05%7C02%7Crajiv.khadka%40inl.gov%7Cee809e6e9b3a4577407608dd337dd603%7C4cf464b7869a42368da2a98566485554%7C0%7C0%7C638723337751155950%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJFbXB0eU1hcGkiOnRydWUsIlYiOiIwLjAuMDAwMCIsIlAiOiJXaW4zMiIsIkFOIjoiTWFpbCIsIldUIjoyfQ%3D%3D%7C0%7C%7C%7C&sdata=qq5JsrRZ6Sx%2F2YfAciY465OT42OPP8YxjfBJKISC0gg%3D&reserved=0>

VGTC is currently looking to find a volunteer for these important positions:

*- Finance Chair*

*- Vice Chair for Conferences*

*- Webmaster*

If you are interested, please contact *Jian Chen <chen.8028 at osu.edu
<chen.8028 at osu.edu>> *(current VGTC Vice Chair for Conferences)

*How would this help the IEEE VR community?*

Historically, the VGTC executive committee has been dominated by our
colleagues from the visualization community. But, VGTC wants to change
this, and we have been told that volunteers from the VR / ISMAR / Mixed
Reality communities will have priority for these appointed positions.
The continued
health of the IEEE mixed reality community will be greatly served by having
more voices from our community in any of the VGTC executive committee
positions.

Often, we are approached by colleagues wanting to find ways to contribute
to the VR conference by serving on conference committees. These positions
are an excellent opportunity to serve.

*What is the VGTC?*

VGTC is the Visualization and Graphics Technical Committee, an IEEE
volunteer organization that coordinates the conferences VR, ISMAR, VIS,
BioVis, EuroVis, PacificVis, and LDAV.

VGTC is *not* the same thing as our main journal TVCG. (But — the
similarity of these names has now caused nearly 30 years of mistyped
emails!)

Regards,

Ed Swan

IEEE VR Steering Committee Chair
