# Job Description

The Computer Science department at Boston College is seeking applications
for a postdoctoral position in the areas of visualization and
human-computer interaction. The selected candidate will be sponsored by and
work under the supervision of Dr. Nam Wook Kim. The candidate will be
encouraged to establish their own research agenda and conduct original
research on agreed-upon topic areas. General topic areas include, but are
not limited to:

- Understanding how people interact with data
- Building and evaluating novel data-driven systems
- Exploring applications of large language models, AR/VR, and other
emerging technologies.

The candidate is encouraged to publish their work in top venues for
human-computer interaction and data visualization, such as ACM CHI and IEEE
VIS. They are also advised to mentor research projects led by
undergraduates, assist with grant applications, and participate in teaching
as part of their postdoctoral training.

# Starting Date

The position will begin as soon as the candidate is available. Once the
supervisor has made an informal offer, it will take additional time to
complete the formal hiring process.

# Qualifications

The candidate should have a Ph.D. in Computer Science, Information Science,
or a related field. A minimum of two first-authored academic papers are
required in relevant academic conferences and journals (e.g., ACM CHI, IEEE
VIS, EuroVis, UIST, CSCW, etc.).
