[Infovis] Assistant Professor in Geo-information Science with a Focus on Advanced Visualization & Immersive Experiences - Tenure Track

The laboratory of Geo-information Science and Remote Sensing invites applications from young and motivated scientists for the position of Assistant (UD) Professor in Geo-information Science with a strong focus on advanced visualization. The candidate will be asked to contribute to the education activities and the group’s research agenda. The candidate is expected to develop innovative scientific research strengthening and complementing the already ongoing themes in the group.

Focus of this position will be on advanced visualization within the general field of geo-information science and associated disciplines. Topics include but are not limited to research on opportunities and potentials of immersive technologies and visualizations such as augmented, mixed, and virtual realities; immersive analytics; research at the interface of data science/AI and visualizations; embodied digital twins; advanced visualization for science, digital humanities, agriculture, climate change, biodiversity, nutrition, and food science; empirical evaluations of advanced visualizations; participatory research facilitated through immersive experiences; immersive environments as research tools; learning with and through advanced visualizations.

A track record of successful collaborations with the humanities and social sciences will be considered an asset.

Salary depends on knowledge and experience and will range from a minimum of € 3.807,- to a maximum of € 5.211,- (assistant professor position), based on full time employment.

The Department’s fundamental research and education concerns our living environment: nature, landscape, land use, mitigation and adaptation to climate change, water management, and various competing claims on space.

The mission of our laboratory is to advance spatial competences for a sustainable world through research and education. The education that conveys this mission is offered in a variety of BSc programmes of Wageningen University and concentrated in the MSc Geo-information Science of Wageningen University and the joint MSc in Geographical Information Management and Applications (GIMA).
