BigNet2018: 1st International Workshop in Visual Analytics for Big Networks http://bignet2018.bdarg.org
A Workshop of the 2018 IEEE International Conference on Big Data (IEEE Big Data 2018) December 10-13, 2018, Seattle, WA, USA
=== Important Dates ===
19th August, 2018 : Submission of papers
9th October, 2018 : Notification of acceptance
10 November 2018 : Camera-ready submission of accepted papers
10-13 December, 2018 : Conference; Workshop date TBA
=== Aim ===
Network visualization is one of the earliest branches of information visualization with a foundation in a more than three-decades long history of active research in the field of graph drawing. In recent years, large-scale networks, such as social, biological, and financial networks as well as networks representing software engineering processes, have become prominent generators of big data. The need and the opportunity to utilize the information in such networks better has raised a range of new research questions, such as, what constitutes an insightful visualization of a big network, how to visualize a big network efficiently without loss of information, how to scale-up existing graph drawing methods for dealing with huge datasets, etc. This workshop aims at bringing together the leading researchers in this field and showcase the latest results in big network visual analytics.
Topics of interest include, but are not
limited to:
• Algorithmic frameworks for visualizing big networks
• Quality and effectiveness of big-network visualization
• Data management for efficient big-network visualization
• Applications of visual analytics for big networks in the fields of
o software engineering,
o social science,
o finances,
o biology
• Application of big-network visualization to complexity and complex systems
• Sustainability aspects of big-network visualization
