1. IEEE VIS Registration
============
After ten years, we are excited to be returning to Baltimore, Maryland. Located on the mid-Atlantic coast, the city is easy to reach and has wonderful attractions as part of the Inner Harbor district near the conference hotel.
We invite you to participate in IEEE Visual Analytics Science and Technology (VAST), IEEE Information Visualization (InfoVis), IEEE Scientific Visualization (SciVis), and art program, along with the growing array of symposia that share our week. Bring your imagination, your data, your problems, your solutions, your research, insights, experience, and enthusiasm.
Early registration deadline: September 9, 2016

2. VAST Challenge
============
http://vacommunity.org/VAST+Challenge+2016
This year’s VAST Challenge returns to the island of Kronos for three mini-challenges to test the skills of designers and visual analytics groups alike. These challenges are open to participation by individuals and teams in industry, government, and academia. We encourage your submissions and look forward to seeing your innovative approaches to solving these challenges using visual analytics.
Important Dates:
Submission: July 12, 2016
Notification: August 17, 2016
Contact: vast-challenge at ieeevis.org

3. SciVis Contest
============
http://www.uni-kl.de/sciviscontest/
Ensemble simulation can be used to examine aleatoric uncertainty in simulation models that contain stochastic effects. For this purpose, a simulation experiment is performed many times to generate an ensemble of realizations of model. The object of the 2016 Scientific Visualization Contests is the visualization of an ensemble of three-dimensional, transient fluid flows obtained through particle simulation with stochastic effects at multiple levels of resolution.
Important Dates:
Submission: July 31, 2016
Notification: August 31, 2016
Contact: Berk Geveci (berk.geveci at kitware.com) and Christoph Garth (garth at cs.uni-kl.de)
============
4. Student volunteer
============
http://vissv.org/
The Student Volunteer Program is looking for reliable, hard working and enthusiastic student volunteers to help us create a great experience and a premier conference. Each year student volunteers provide essential support to the IEEE VIS Conference. Their enthusiastic participation enhances the conference experience for all the attendees. Student Volunteers benefit by observing first-hand the latest advances in visualization, hearing and meeting world-class as well as next-generation visualization professionals from around the world, and building a network of research colleagues.
Important Dates:
Application deadline: July 1 - August 1, 2016
============
5. VisSec (Symposium on Visualization for Cyber Security)
============
http://vizsec.org/
The 13th IEEE Symposium on Visualization for Cyber Security (VizSec) is a forum that brings together researchers and practitioners from academia, government, and industry to address the needs of the cybersecurity community through new and insightful visualization and analysis techniques. VizSec provides an excellent venue for fostering greater exchange and new collaborations on a broad range of security- and privacy-related topics. The purpose of VizSec is to explore effective and scalable visual interfaces for security domains such as network security, computer forensics, reverse engineering, insider threat detection, cryptography, privacy, user assisted attacks prevention, compliance management, wireless security, secure coding, and penetration testing.
Important Dates:
Submission: August 1, 2016
Notification: September 5, 2016
============
6. VDS (Visualization in Data Science)
============
http://www.visualdatascience.org/2016/
Visualization is an integral part of data science, and essential to enable sophisticated analysis of data. VDS will bring together domain scientists and methods researchers (including data visualization, usability, data management, artificial intelligence, machine learning, statistics, programming environments, scalable software). Our goal is to bring together practitioners and researchers in data science and visualization to discuss common interests, talk about practical issues, and identify open research problems.
Important Dates:
Submission: August 5, 2016
Notification: August 26, 2016
Contact: contact at visualdatascience.org
============
7. BioVis posters
============
http://biovis.net/2016/ieeevis/
The BioVis 2016 Posters track offers a venue to present and discuss new research in biological data visualization. Submissions take the form of a short (250-word) abstract with a supporting figure and are presented at the conference site as large format posters during a dedicated poster session. The BioVis workshop as a whole aims to promote interaction between the visualization, bioinformatics, and biology communities, and the BioVis poster session offers an interactive forum that encourages graphical presentation, demonstration, and active engagement with BioVis participants as well as all attendees of IEEE VIS.
Important Dates:
Submission: August 26, 2016
Notification: September 9, 2016
