As part of its 50th Anniversary Lectureship Scheme Lancaster University is currently advertising new positions in key challenge areas of data science. The Anniversary Lectureships are designed to identify academic leaders of the future and attract the highest calibre of applicants. Benefits include no direct teaching load for at least the first two years and the opportunity to play an influential role in Lancaster's new Data Science Institute. There are three positions directly associated with Lancaster’s Data Science Institute covering novel systems architectures, on-line inference, trust/privacy and visualisation and additional posts in Network Modelling and Social Statistics/Data Science. As part of a major investment in Data Science we are seeking applications from outstanding individuals for three new academic positions in Lancaster’s Data Science Institute. This is an opportunity to join a world-leading community of researchers at an exciting time. Data Science is a key area of growth for Lancaster University and is founded on historic strengths in Computer Science, Statistics and Operational Research coupled with an outstanding track record in multidisciplinary research.

The posts form part of strategic investment that has seen the University make a substantial commitment in the form of over 15 new data science related academic positions in the last 12 months.Together with more than 70 academics with existing expertise at Lancaster, these positions are a key part of the new world-class, multidisciplinary Data Science Institute that is starting to set the global standard for an interdisciplinary approach to contemporary data-driven research challenges in areas including data and society, health, and the environment. Appointments will help play a key role in shaping this exciting new initiative.

Applications are particularly encouraged from those who can make significant contributions in one of the following key areas of Data Science:

Trust, privacy and ethics of data
Data visualisation
On-line inference
Novel systems architectures for data science
The posts are available at grades 7 and 8 (Lecturer, equivalent to Assistant Professor), according to the experience and research track-record of the successful candidates.
