A one-year postdoc position is available at INRIA Saclay, France (near Paris).

The candidate will join the ILDA team [1] and contribute to project MapMuxing, which is about the design, implementation and evaluation of novel, interactive geovisualization techniques that help users combine and make sense of multiple, heterogeneous representations of geographical areas such as, e.g., topographic maps, ortho-images, live geolocation feeds, geophysical phenomenon simulations such as tsunamis. This is a joint project with IGN, the French national mapping institute [2].

Within this general context, the candidate is welcome to develop his/her own research directions, and will have the opportunity to design novel techniques for either workstations, ultra-high-resolution wall displays, or both.

Applicants must have a PhD in Computer Science and be interested in interactive cartography and geovisualization. Expertise in Human-Computer Interaction / Information Visualization is required. Knowledge of Geographical Information Systems is a plus, but is not mandatory.

The position is for 12 months. Starting date is flexible, before March 2017.

Interested applicants should contact Emmanuel Pietriga (emmanuel.pietriga at inria.fr) and Caroline Appert (caroline.appert at lri.fr). We will both be attending CHI '16 in San Jose. Don’t hesitate to get in touch with us there!
