VISION
Transformations in many fields are enabled by rapid advances in our ability
to
acquire and generate data. The bottleneck to discovery is now our ability
to analyze
and make sense of heterogeneous, noisy, and often massive datasets.
Extracting
knowledge from this abundance of data lies at the heart of 21st century
discovery.
We truly are at the dawn of a revolutionary new era. Data science is the
practice of deriving insight from data, at the intersection of the
disciplines of statistical methodology, computer science, and one or more
traditional scholarly fields.
Visualization is an integral part of data science, and essential to enable
sophisticated analysis of data. The first Symposium on Visualization in
Data Science (VDS) at IEEE VIS 2015 will bring together domain scientists
and methods researchers.
POSTERS
We solicit posters to engage the community in discussion on topics related
to visualization in data science. You must present a corresponding poster
during the designated poster session, and are encouraged to incorporate a
demo or video into your presentation. You also have the opportunity to give
a brief oral preview during a plenary ‘fast forward’ session. We encourage
submission of work in progress and preliminary results, previously
published work from other venues, and visualization challenges relevant to
data science.
REVIEW PROCESS
Poster submissions will be reviewed for relevance and interest to the Data
Science community by the Program Chairs.
SUBMISSION AND FORMATTING GUIDELINES
Poster submissions consist of a **250-word textual abstract and a
supporting image**. Optionally, you can also submit a link to a short video
or other supplementary material such as software.
To submit a poster please use the Precision Conference System (
https://precisionconference. <https://precisionconference.com/~vds15/>
com/~vds15/ <https://precisionconference.com/~vds15/>).
After logging in go to “new submissions” and select “Submit to Posters” for
VDS 2015.

*Digital Compass*
http://ieeevis.org/year/2015/info/overview-amp-topics/digital-compass
IEEE VIS 2015 is proud to offer our attendees activities to socialize and
meet fellow VIS researchers through the *Digital Compass* events. One of
our goals in organizing the Compass activities at the main IEEE VIS
conference is to support the next generation of visualization researchers
by helping connect beginning and advanced researchers from the scientific
visualization, information visualization and visual analytics communities.
The Compass activities are open to all registered IEEE VIS participants.
The activities are organized by the IEEE VIS Compass Chairs.
