Research Scientist and Post-doctoral Positions:

IBM T.J. Watson Research Center is looking for research scientists and post-docs with interest in the field of data visualization and visual analytics, to design next-generation user interfaces for making sense of big data, particularly in the healthcare domain. This position is based at IBM Research in Yorktown Heights, NY.  The Research Scientist and Post-doc will be working alongside visualization, machine learning, and medical researchers performing cutting-edge research in data-driven medicine.

The ideal candidate should possess or be nearing completion of a doctorate in computer science, human-computer interaction, or medical informatics with demonstrated experience in the use of visualization and visual analytics.

In addition to being technically abreast of the literature and progress within the visualization research community, the researcher is expected to generate highly novel ideas and be involved in their execution and implementation. S/he is expected to contribute significantly to the team in developing new visualizations, leveraging big data from longitudinal electronic medical records, patient-controlled devices, and genomic data.  The researcher should also have strong system design and development skills and should be able to deploy software services individually and as part of an extended team. Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team across multiple geographies is also important. The researcher is also expected to disseminate, externally and internally, the results of such activities through publications and seminars, and represent IBM at conferences and universities.
