Description

 

Serve as the Managing Director of the Department of Homeland Security
designated Center of Excellence (Visualization Sciences Lead) in Command,
Control and Interoperability responsible for all aspects of the day to day
operations. The Managing Director will have project management
responsibilities, will help identify research and funding opportunities,
lead international faculty teams, and build strong, collaborative
relationships with international, federal, state, and local government
agencies, and corporate affiliate continually providing status of center
accomplishments, goals and objectives.

 

 Required Qualifications: 

*	Master's degree in management, homeland security, computer
science/engineering, public safety, public transportation, emergency
response or related fields.
*	Five significant years of experience in managing large,
interdisciplinary and diverse projects.
*	Experience building and leading collaborative teams between
government entities, corporate affiliates, and multi-institutional partners.
*	Experience working and collaborating with faculty, staff, graduate
and undergraduate students, and post doctoral fellows.
*	Experience managing complex budgets.
*	Experience managing an administrative staff.
*	Strong communication (oral and written) skills with ability in
public speaking to a wide variety of groups.
*	Excellent organizational skills with ability to manage and execute
multiple tasks, work under deadlines, and manage international teams of
technical, professional and clerical personnel.
*	Computer proficient in up-to-date software and applications; strong
reporting skills.
*	Knowledge of internet and web-based interfaces.
*	Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships
with public and private corporations and businesses and government agencies.
*	Ability to effectively interact with university administration,
faculty, staff, students and post docs.
*	Knowledge of the business development lifecycle including
transitioning research into commercial products.

Preferred Qualifications:

*	Purdue experience.
*	Experience working with any one of the federal, state, and local
government agencies that includes  DHS, DoD, CDC, TSA and/or Armed Forces.
*	Experience identifying and collaborating with corporate partners.
*	Knowledge of transitioning research deliverables into commercial
products. 
*	Knowledge of various government policies and procedures and of
public safety, health, and emergency management processes.

.         A background check is required for employment in this position.

.         FLSA: Exempt (Not Eligible for Overtime)

.         Retirement Eligibility:   Defined Contributions Immediately.
