      Senior Software Engineer/Research Analyst


Job Summary: Performs research and programming for current and future 
externally funded research projects at the Cyberinfrastructure for 
Network Science (CNS) Center. These projects include tools powered by 
the Cyberinfrastructure Shell (CIShell*), MapIN, a map of Indiana's 
expertise and resources, and other online interactive maps and web 
sites. Participates in the entire software development process, from the 
collection of user stories through planning, implementation, testing, 
deployment, and documentation; participates in the training of new 
developers, and the creation of educational material for workshops; and 
sets the standards of the team in many areas, including code, teamwork, 
product direction, and process.

*REQUIRED: Bachelors degree in computer science, information science, 
human-computer interaction or related discipline and two years of 
experience in software development using Java, Experience with web 
development and experience with at least one source control system, such

Preferred: Three or more years of professional software development 
experience; Experience with Python and Django; experience creating data 
visualizations programmatically; experience with agile development 
processes such as Extreme Programming or Scrum Knowledge of Java design 
patterns such as MVC; knowledge of data mining techniques and tool; and 
experience focusing on usability and human-computer interaction; and 
experience working in a research environment.

Senior Software Engineer/Research Analyst to join our team. The CNS 
Center employs a full-time development team. We use a Kanban-based 
development process, and are open to experiments and improvements. Some 
projects are collaborative, others are more independent. Developers' 
schedules are flexible; for instance, some developers have worked 
10-hour days, in order to get a 3-day weekend every week. We value

      Software Developer
